Catching up!

It has been a very busy month in Room 20!  Students have worked hard this month preparing for our Celebration of Learning on March 15th and we look forward to sharing our work with you!

In numeracy we were introduced to Talk Moves to lead our discussions and have adopted this language into many classroom discussions across curriculum.  Restate can be especially useful to practice with your children if you think they weren't listening!

We also had an opportunity to share our final I Am Malala projects with the school in the Learning Commons.  Students were invited to come and view our presentations, poems and free writing pieces based on quotes from Malala herself.  This also lead to a fabulous starting off point for International Women's Day.

We have dived into our Evidence and Investigation inquiry in Science, solving the case of the extinct Edmontosaurs to begin to develop our vocabulary around motive, suspect, opportunity and victim.   Students will be researching types of physical evidence that investigators use in the coming week such as tire tracks, foot prints, handwriting samples, fabric samples and soil samples.  We have also used software to try to re-create our suspect...with mixed success!
